Step 1 · Qualifying questions

Verification of identity. Federal laws and regulations require us to request information from you prior to making a loan. This includes your name, address, an identification number such as your Social Security number, and date of birth. We may verify this information and request supporting documentation. We reserve the right to request additional information and/or signatures in the future. REQ 2
You must be a resident of South Carolina to be eligible for this loan program.
You may apply for both but receive funding from only one.
Only people planning to teach in SC are eligible for this loan program.
Because you are already certified and are not seeking an initial certification in a different subject, you are not eligible to proceed.
You are not eligible for the SC Teacher Career Changer loan since you are already certified to teach.
You may proceed. You will be required to upload proof that the default has cleared later in the process.
Because your prior student loan default has not been cleared, you are not eligible to proceed.
All answers — including disqualifying ones — are saved to the backend for state reporting on applicants who applied but were disqualified. REQ 13
